A supposed classic but one that's so dated the quality of acting pales in comparison to an episode of Saved by the Bell. I can't stand films like this that are heralded as classics, even today, when it's patently obvious that they're about as enjoyable to watch a 6 year old episode of the news that you've already seen 5 times.

The plot is fairly daft. No doubt it was more convincing in its time. The greatest films stand the test of time. Plots still feel relevant and exciting or engaging 60 years on. This didn't stand up to comparison with films 10 years on. The quality of acting for example in Lang's M is so much better it defies belief. The production, f/x, cinematography are all just as defunct. Cinema has evolved. I can't enjoy a film that is so badly dated. If I'd watched it upon release no doubt I'd have been overawed but I didn't and I wasn't.

Maybe no serious film fan can be taken seriously if they dismiss such a highly regarded film but I'll just have to take that risk as I didn't enjoy this one bit. No doubt this was highly influential and advanced cinema but I didn't enjoy it on any level.

Reading some 4 star reviews thay talk about iconic images and amazing sequences. I must have dozed off because I didn't see one.
